In the face of utter faithlessness, when it feels like it doesn’t matter and won’t make any difference, God invites his people to go the extra mile, turn the other cheek, and stand as an example of faithfulness. One of the starkest examples in all the Bible is the story of a married woman who chooses to leave her marriage and prostitute herself out - and yet God asks her husband to go to her, buy her back, and take her back. Just when everything within us screams, “I could never do that” God reminds us that he has done this very thing, over and over again, for each and every one of us!
