Christmas Connection

Most people understand the significance of this time of year, but there is usually a greater likelihood of us having a Christmas Conniption than making a Christmas Connection.  Our schedules and our budgets get stretched and stressed, and it is hard to stay focussed on, and at times even remember, what the reason for this season was in the first place.  In this series we're asking everyone to consider three simple things that will not only help us make a life changing connection, but will open that door for others as well!

This week the Lead Team takes the stage to give one final push for new volunteers in 2019.

This is it.  The final weekend of the year and the last weekend of our Christmas series.  You might be wondering, “Am I even going to church this week?”  In the wake of Christmas, I have a sobering thought…  What if all sales were final?  Not so much related to that skin tight sweater you got that needs bumped up a size or two, or that one item you bought that seemed like such a great idea, but now has you gripped with intense buyers remorse.  What if your actions, your words, your life (even this week) added up to way more than we think?  Check out this message and make a connection that lasts forever!

  • Just a girl...

    Christmas, 2018

In this Christmas Message, Pastor Rob shares his thoughts about Mary, the mother of Jesus.

Our eyes are often drawn to all the stuff that makes Christmas stand out and seem special.  Angelic announcements, historic events, and important people.  Even today this season is full of lights, music, energy, and action.  But Christmas came to be through someone who was young, who was insignificant, and who was overlooked.  Maybe this means there is hope for those of us who usually feel insufficient.  Maybe God prefers, even chooses, people just like us.  Take some time to discover how this timeless story is so much more than words on a page… and has absolutely everything to do with you!

  • Naughty or nice...

    DECEMBER 16, 2018

This week Rob touches on a major difference between God and Santa.

One significant piece of Christmas baggage is guilt.  Guilt over what we’d like to do compared to what we are able to do.  Guilt over time constraints and telling family members we won’t be available in the time blocks they want us.  Even with good things, being motivated by guilt is a very real phenomenon.  We tend to think if we don’t do enough or meet some arbitrary minimum then we’ll end up on the naughty list and miss out on God’s best.  It's time we understand that God does not function like this, and  we discover the freedom to engage the right way!

  • checking it twice...

    DECEMBER 9, 2018

The Lead Team joins Rob on stage this week to talk about how we can get involved.

Last week we talked about our plan for Christmas and didn’t ask for a response.  Jumping on bandwagons or making an emotional decision doesn’t usually amount to much.  Now that we’ve had a week to think and pray, we are going to check our list a second time and begin to decide just what God is asking from each of us.  And here is some good news… it isn’t all the same!  God asks different things from different people, and regardless of our part, success is ultimately contingent on Him.  Let's take a step this week, as we begin responding to God’s invitation, and ask Him to bless all that we do!

  • making a list...

    december 2, 2018

Pastor Rob kicks off this Christmas series encouraging us to get involved.

Successful living almost always starts with a plan, or at least a list.  Very few people make a difference by accident or as a result of something they haphazardly stumbled upon.  Christmas is all about celebrating and experiencing the greatest gift ever given.  It’s a wonderful feeling to receive a gift, but giving one is equally amazing.  And some gifts are so significant that when we truly comprehend them, we can’t help but live differently in response.  Instead of just trying to survive the month of December, listen to the plan and spend the next week considering how God may want you to engage.
